I was looking forward to a sweet holiday romance with some depth, but after only a few chapters I had to bail. I felt a little blindsided by a plot point and didn‘t want to continue (I‘m putting it in the spoilers). Bummer! I bet it goes on to be a great book.
I already returned it to the library, so enjoy this picture of Fitz and Zoe!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Despite its title & cover, this is not the straightforward Christmas romance one would expect.
There is such depth of character & feeling in this book, and romance, and good conversations about the difficulty of forgiving others & yourself, and also, somehow, really good plot twists? And it all worked perfectly.
Heather Long was a great audiobook reader as well, and I will definitely be reading more of Stone‘s work in the future.
Holly participates in a Dear Stranger club to write letters to others spending Christmas alone. This year, it seems fate has other plans for her! An emotional, heart wrencher with a very cute romance and a strong message on loss, grief, family, forgiveness, and second chances. The characters are multi-dimensional and highly flawed, they just felt REAL! Loved it. Not my last Emily Stone! 5/5
Christmas tree and decorations are done. Shopping is done too. I just need to wrap a couple of presents, mail two packages and write Christmas cards. Hopefully, I will get some baking done but starting next weekend, I will be working seven days in a row for the next year to finish paying for my MLIS degree and hopefully graduate next December.
I also put together the holiday books that I hope to read!
This is my third Stone book, and I have thoroughly loved each one.
Holly is recovering from a tragedy three years ago and becomes involved in a lonely-hearts letter-writing club. Each December she writes one letter and receives one from an anonymous person sharing deeply personal thoughts about their loneliness. This year the letter she receives is different…it‘s signed and mentions a café that Holly has visited. She decides to return to this ⬇️
I finished the new Emily Stone last week, and I thought it was cute. Was I prepared for my face to leak? Nope! But I'm not even mad about it. Now, what I am slightly upset about is that she threw in a one bed trope and made it fade to black.
