Why Are We Afraid?
Why Are We Afraid? | Fran Pintadera
1 post | 1 read | 1 to read
A poignant, evocative exploration of the many reasons we feel fear. After a thunderstorm causes the lights to go out, Max asks his father, Have you ever been afraid? His father says everyone is afraid sometimes. Then Maxs father carefully begins to describe the contours of fear. He explains what it feels like when fear shows up and the many things that can make us afraid: shadows, feeling alone and losing what we love. But ultimately, even if our fear can stop us in our tracks, we have to keep going. The stunning imagery and poetic text will entrance children as they learn what it means to feel their feelings.

4 ⭐This book looks at common fears, people have, and why this makes them afraid. It starts with a power outage and a child learning that fears are important, but they can always be defeated. The illustrations in this book are simply beautiful and are a joy to look at when turning page to page. The story is well done and is a great example of why fear is OK. Overall, this book is lovely and there will be some who want to read it over and over again
