I enjoyed this book about a “Rosie the Riveter” who is trying to find her path after the war ends & women aren‘t needed at the airplane factory. I‘ve always been interested in this topic — where did these women go if they didn‘t want to go back home? This one is a bit more soapy as it involves artists, a little scandal, and a hotel. Hazel was a little naive at times but I was rooting for her to find her way. This was my #BookSpin & #AuldLangSpine

This book was a light summer read. I read it for a book club that I belong to. I should say I listened to it, as I wasn‘t able to find a text copy on Libby. This isn‘t my favorite way of reading a book, and may have taken away from the story. I liked the main female character, and I admired her strength. I look forward to discussing this book with the author during our next bookclub meeting.

Hazel Francis arrives in Laguna Beach after WWII ends, adrift after the loss of her family back in KS & the termination of her wartime career building aircraft. An eavesdropped conversation & a friendly bartender connects her to the infamous local artist who hires her as an assistant. Engaging, well-researched & with a fabulously summery backdrop, I loved this one! Great characters & a plot that‘s satisfyingly predictable, I didn‘t want it to end!
