Who Is Michelle Obama?
Who Is Michelle Obama? | Megan Stine
4 posts | 5 read | 4 to read
Born into a close knit family in Chicago, Michelle Robinson was a star student who graduated from Princeton and Harvard Law. Then in 1992, she married another promising young lawyer and the rest, as they say, is history. It is undeniable that President Barack Obama has changed the United States but so has Michelle Obama, the self proclaimed "Mom in Chief." This compelling, easy-to-read biography is illustrated by New Yorker artist John O'Brien.

This B is a Coretta Scott King Book Award winner and would be a great book to use in a LC. This book can be used along with thinkmarks and LC roles to guide the students https://pin.it/xukma4zd4pt4kv. Using this book in LCs would accommodate to UDL 2.3 Support decoding of text, mathematical notations and symbols. The students using thinkmarks would also be using ESOL strategy 44 Focus on thinking skills; predict, categorize, classify,

ATejada observe and report (oral-written-pictorial) sequence, summarize. The whole Who was/What was series is great for students who need to read biographies!! (edited) 6y
GGallegos I love it! Sometimes I feel like we focus more on way past people in history, which is not a bad thing but we need to remember the people making history now. 6y

DianaHerrera I love all of these “Who was/is ___?” books throughout my timeline. I find it very informative because students can use these books if they choose to do a project on citizens who have made a difference in the world. I think I want to learn more about the author, Megan Stine. @ATejada 6y
ATejada @Gabylaurel10 yes these books are so small and have so much information! 6y
ATejada @DianaHerrera Believe it or not Diana these books vary in authors! It‘s not just Megan Stine who writes them! 6y
ATejada @GGallegos Yes but the best thing about this series is that it varies from the past to the present and between people and events! They‘re just the best short novels stacked with information! 6y
ATejada @Thayes1787 Yes these books are really just great for anything! Your students can read them independently or even in literature circles with roles! It‘s just an awesome series! 6y

This is a great book to use in the classroom. This is a B on Michelle Obama one of the First Ladies. This book is a book that I would RA with my students. It's a book I would read when we are learning about the presidents and there wife's. Scholastic has a hole series on a bunch of different famous people. I would have students compare and contrast the president job and the First Lady job. We would read the book who is Obama also. #UCFLAE3414SP18
