I don‘t think I would have liked it as much if I wasn‘t already a fan of the author‘s.

A perfect book to start the new year. Rubin works through one of her senses at a time, trying to enjoy each one to the fullest. She visits the Met in NYC each day. She tries a meal at a restaurant where you are blindfolded. She takes a class on developing your sense of smell. She discovers the taste & visual cues that bring her joy. I know I‘ll be putting some of these tips into practice as I try to deepen my appreciation of the world around me.
#nonfiction2023. My usual goal is one nonfiction per month. Crushed it! I have a couple “slow but steady” reads that have turned into just slow. So my goal this year is to finish a couple nonfiction chunksters. And that‘s it. #nonfiction24
This is really about mindfulness, tuning into each of our five senses and living in the present. The exercises Rubin did to tune into her senses won‘t be practical for everyone but you can adapt them to your life and circumstances.
Morning reading on the deck with my new coffee cup. #summerreading #ThunderRoadBooks #happyplace
After reading the tagged book, I decided to try my first sound bath meditation at the Buffalo Bayou Cistern. It was one of the most unique experiences. #weekendvibes
This is a book for anybody who is seeking a grounding meditation or inspiring type of mindfulness. I loved the inspiration to enrich my life and connect to others more deeply through my five senses. It felt like free happiness and fulfillment in appreciating all of the beauty around us! As well as a call to intentionally curate an environment to nourish ourselves through our senses.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Getting out of my head and into my body and the present moment is something I want to work on with intention. I relished Rubin‘s exploration of living a more engaged, embodied life by noticing and celebrating each of our five senses. What better way is there to really experience this vivid world? This book achieved what my favorite works of nonfiction do - it sparked my curiosity, creativity, and conversations. 🎧
