The Alligators of Abraham
The Alligators of Abraham | Robert Kloss
7 posts | 6 read | 115 to read
Robert Klosss The Alligators of Abraham is a fever dream built from the fly-strewn corpses of armies, the megalomania of generals, the madness of widows, the fires of mourning, the fury of the poor, the indifference of the wealthy, and the ravenous hissing of those alligators who have ever plagued the shores of our national nightmares. With a cover design and interior illustrations by Matt Kish, author of Tin Houses Moby-Dick in Pictures, this is a Civil War epic unlike any other.

Wow! This book was crazy good(emphasis on crazy)! I wasn't sure I was going to like it at first because the style is so drastically different from anything that's out there right now. Part 3 blew me away. Read this book guys!

Starting this next... Not sure what to think based on the description. I know it will be very different from any of my current reads.

I got sucked into other books before even finding the start of the narrative on this one. The first 20 pages are descriptions of place and time. Hoping to get back in eventually.

Not only is one of my favorite books, THE ALLIGATORS OF ABRAHAM, about to be back in print, but
1) It's from the amazing indie publisher Civil Coping Mechanisms
2) @mattbell wrote the intro
3) @rwrkb designed the cover
and 4) that's ME being profane on the back! MOST EXCITING THING TO HAPPEN TO ME. 😍🤘🏻☠️

DGRachel That's awesome! Congratulations!🍾🎊🎈🎉 8y

This was my 4th train book, but I want to read it again. It is short, sweet, and beautifully written. Currently, you can get the ebook cheap or hope to find a used copy at a reasonable price. It is a war story like you have never read before, no really, you have never read something like this book. It isn't straightforward, but poetic and beautiful. Great!

Soooooo excited to learn that one of my favorite books will be back in print this fall! THIS BOOK IS FEROCIOUS AF. The first time I read it, I thought I was imagining it, because I had a fever and assumed it was a weird fever dream, so I immediately read it again. SPOILER: It was just as awesome the second time. I handsold more copies of this than any other title in my nine years at the bookstore. SO READY TO RAVE ABOUT IT AGAIN. 🎉🎉🎉

BookBabe I'm not even going to bother finding out what the book is about — based on your enthusiastic review, I'm just going to read it! 🐊🎩😁 8y
mauveandrosysky That cover is giving me life. 8y

Liberty @mauveandrosysky It's a Matt Kish illustration! He also published a book called Moby-Dick in Pictures, where he made one drawing for every page of Moby-Dick. 🤘🏻 8y
