In this chilling story from USA Today bestselling author Margot Hunt, a mother and daughter try to start over in an idyllic town only to get caught up in cliques, mind games...and murder. After the sudden death of her husband, Kate Turner is looking for a fresh start for herself and her teenage daughter, Alex. They relocate to the beachside town of Shoreham, Florida, where all is not as sunny as it seems.Although Kate makes fast friends with a trio of fellow moms, their daughters take an instant dislike to Alex, who attempts to document their bullying in her video diary. Kate brushes off Alex's concerns--until she receives a series of chilling warnings about the clique of moms from other parents and neighbors. As it becomes harder for her to ignore the malicious undercurrent she senses among her new friends, Kate grows increasingly unsure of who to believe--and who to trust. As small-town gossip weaves a harrowing web of jealousy, deceit, and betrayal, Kate and Alex discover that whether you're in or out, the status quo can turn on you deadly fast.

Unfortunately, the great narration couldn‘t keep this from feeling like the drama was too OTT to be believed. It was entertaining in a popcorn-y way…just don‘t take it too seriously. And the ending, was it icing on the drama cake, or was it just too much, IDK🤷‍♂️
- Kimberly Woods as the Daughter and Vivienne Leheny as the Mother: both gave excellent performances.

I grabbed this one from Kindle Unlimited because I am running out of thrillers to read that fit my aesthetic. I wasn't sure what I would think about this one due to the prologue, I thought it would be more police procedural which is not to my taste. I'm a picky thriller reader, lol. But now I'm into it, & it's captivating! Tale as old as time, mean girls ganging up on the new girl while her mother befriends the mean girls' moms. So far so good!

BookLineNSinker I love the cover, too! Beautiful done! 2y

Lovely Girls by Margot Hunt
A good mystery, no silly red herrings. This was about three high school girls who are the ultimate bullies, and the family who they targeted. Told from the point of view of Alex and her mom, a mother and daughter navigating tragedy, grief, and life after. Book #17 in 2022
