A Pirate's Life for Tea
A Pirate's Life for Tea: A Cozy Fantasy with Ships Abound | Rebecca Fornwalt
6 posts | 4 read | 3 to read
While searching for stolen dragon eggs, newly-engaged couple Kianthe and Reyna find themselves smack-dab in the middle of a swashbuckling love story. On one side is Serina, a failed farmer turned river pirate. Her booty? Wheat, grains, and the occasional jar of imported tea leaves. It's quite the embarrassment to Diarn Arlon, the powerful lord of the Nacean River.... and he'll conscript anyone to bring her to justice. Especially Kianthe, the elemental mage who just crashed his party, and her somewhat-scary fiancee. Begrudgingly, the couple joins forces with Bobbie, one of Arlon's constables--who happens to be Serina's childhood friend. Bobbie is determined to capture the pirate before anyone else. Which would be a lot easier if Serina didn't absolutely loathe her now. As Kianthe and Reyna watch this relation-shipwreck from afar, it quickly becomes apparent that these disaster lesbians need all the help they can get. And luckily, matchmaking is Reyna's favorite past time. The dragon eggs may have to wait.

Before reading this sequel, I went and reread book 1 as well to refresh my memory. It was so lovely returning to these characters! In Book 2 we see them explore more of the world and go on an adventure farther from the home they created, but you don't lose that sense of feeling cozy. The new characters introduced are just as dynamic and interesting. I can't wait for book 3!

Another great cozy fantasy.

When Reyna and Kianthe hunt for missing dragon eggs, they come across a pirate stealing foodstuffs from an unfair lord and the officer chasing her. They quickly realize there‘s more to the pair‘s relationship and force their way in to help.

Reyna and Kianthe have left their new shop behind to rescue the lost dragon eggs & protect their community from dragon attacks. Along the way, they meet some pirates, upset a distasteful local lord, & get some crocheted souvenirs.

Such great pacing! High stakes scenes, pirate battles & heists, balanced with bits of flirting outrageously, scheming, & terrible, glorious puns. More wonderful secondary characters. I want more of the world! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗
