Faking Christmas
Faking Christmas | Cindy Steel

One little white lie. That's all it took. Now I'm suddenly having to fake-date my work nemesis to get me through a week at a Vermont Christmas lodge with my family. The problem? I can't stand Miles Taylor. Not only that, but I don't date people I work with. But I can handle it. I've had practice faking my emotions for years. So it shouldn't matter that Miles never lets me get away with anything. And that he happens to boil my blood hotter than a steaming pot of wassail. So when he throws his annoying grin my way or forces me on dates he knows I'll hate, I'll just grit my teeth and smile. Or maybe not. Did I mention that Miles is the one person in the world I can't seem to fool? When my emotions begin feeling less like a sham and his arms feel way too comfortable, it makes me think that maybe Miles had a plan of his own. And I'm starting to like it a lot more than mine.

So I said I was moving to serious books, but I couldn‘t resist this sweet, closed door romance between two high school English teachers (be still, my heart). The banter was cute, not overly sweet, and Miles was the most perfectly sarcastic yet sweet romantic lead. I loved it! ❤️❤️❤️

I caught myself grinning big through this romance. While it stayed true to its trope, there were a couple twists. I was irritated at her overreactions in the beginning, but the amount of humor made it all better. Olive hates the new English teacher, who takes joy in humiliating her. Yet, Miles‘ name is the one who slips over her lips when she is inventing a fake boyfriend so her family doesn‘t push her back with her emotionally abusive ex..

FeatherV Ooooomg I read this one last year, it‘s soooo funny 11mo

This was so charming. I thought there was a decent amount of humor thrown in, while still being a cute love story. I love the enemies-to-lovers trope, plus he fell first.

I downloaded and finished Faking Christmas in one day on audio, & it is such a feel-good enemies to lovers! Yet it still tackles some deeper subject matter like grief without derailing the romantic momentum. The best part, there‘s no annoying communication issue break-up plot as is always the case with this trope. This definitely got me in the Christmas spirit, and I recommend for anyone wanting a young Hallmark-esque story. It‘s vanilla & sweet!
