Los gritos del pasado | Camilla Läckberg
20 posts | 47 read | 1 reading | 9 to read

Butterfinger It is my least favorite of Lachberg. I think I prefer the crime not to be in real-time. I have such a strong imagination. The book just gave me nightmares. 5y
EadieB I like the Lackberg books. The other Nordic writers are too wordy and make for too long books. I like the Ice Princess better than The Preacher. 5y
AnneCecilie It‘s a good book, but I think I liked the first one a little bit more. Looking forward to the third one. 5y
Tove_Reads The first one was better. Läckberg is good, but she still doesn‘t make my top 15 list of Nordic murder mystery authors. There are so many great ones and it‘s hard to compete with them! I‘d like her to continue where the relationships were last time. Too big of a leap. 5y

Butterfinger I feel pity. I never had my third trimester during summer, but I can imagine the suffering. And boredom. 5y
EadieB I didn‘t like that Erica took a backseat in this book! 5y
AnneCecilie I feel like as a reader, we were left out of a lot of steps in their relationship. At the end of the first book they‘re dating and at the beginning of the second Erica is pregnant. I would have liked more of what happened between that. I also like a more active Erica (edited) 5y
Tove_Reads Yeah, the whole pregnancy part didn‘t really work for me that well. I prefer Erica to be a part of the murder action. 5y

Butterfinger A mail order bride. That to me is an example of human trafficking. And Mellberg is just awful. Patrick and Erica are having trouble with family and friends. It's still a new relationship for them. I feel for them and I can understand both of their worries for becoming new parents. 5y
EadieB I agree about mail order brides - a really bad concept! 5y
Tove_Reads I so wanted Martin to succeed with the tourist office girl. Hope they‘ll both be in the next book. Although with the speed Läckberg keeps they might be married by then ? 5y

Butterfinger This book upset me. A lot. I think the torture hidden by religion was the worst for me. Just to see if their "talent" would work. I have to be honest, I read this last year and I could not reread it. So I may have forgotten a few details. 5y
EadieB It was interesting about the religious fanatics! 5y
AnneCecilie I‘m not sure, but for me it feels like the grandfather‘s lies were the catalyst for everything that came. 5y

Tove_Reads The family dispute was just what they tend to be - stupid. So many lies and secrets kept for years. I have to say I can‘t stand it that people hide the real father/mother from the child, no matter how hard they suffer from it themselves. 5y
Butterfinger @EadieB @AnneCecilie @Tove_Reads isn't that what happened in The Ice Princess? I wonder if it will be a recurring theme. 5y
AnneCecilie I think family secrets will always be fun for crime writers to write about, they can always shake up the secrets and have different books. 5y

Butterfinger No, but I was surprised of how she turned on Erica. I think deep down, Anna knew it was the wrong thing to do and she was embarrassed. 5y
EadieB I agree that Anna knew it was wrong and took it out on Erica. 5y
AnneCecilie Not really, I was actually more surprised that the divorce was finalized 5y
Tove_Reads I felt it was a bit rushed in this book, since last time it went to more detail. It‘s a bit fresh to me right now since a woman and her son were abused by the husband/father, and mother ended up killing her son and herself after the father were granted rights of the child. Was a friend‘s friend. 5y
Butterfinger Oh goodness, I am so sorry @Tove_Reads That is horrific. 5y

The second book with Erica Falck and Patrik Hedström, and their relationship has really moved along since the end of book one.

The mystery moves at a slower speed. A 6-year old find a dead woman while playing. When the police shows up, they find 2 other bodies under the first one. It turns out that 2 of the women went missing in 1979. So the hunt for the murder(s) has started. What is the link between the women? And how does it link together?

Butterfinger Shivers. I think this was the one that affected me the most. I'm procrastinating the reread. 5y
Andrew65 I felt the first one was better than the second one. 5y

AnneCecilie @andrew65 Overall I agree with you, but the ending to this one for me at least was more exiting than the first one. More was happening here. 5y
Crazeedi Sounds interesting, looking forward to reading 5y
AnneCecilie @Crazeedi Lots of family drama. 5y

Fjallbacka Sweden - A sadistic murderer has returned to claim fresh victims. Det. Patrik Hedstrom & Erica Falck launch a desperate manhunt. Another fast-paced novel from Lackberg who is a master of suspense and plotting. Family secrets are about to be revealed. Love the characters of Patrik and Erica. They make a great team to solve crime in this small fishing village. Can‘t wait to read the next installment. Recommend to thriller lovers.

Crazeedi You are way ahead of me!!! 🙄🤨😘 5y
EadieB @Crazeedi Lackberg is my favorite of the 3 authors we are reading. 5y
Crazeedi @EadieB I can't say yet which I prefer, first books might not give the complete picture for me, I'll wait to comment 5y

I‘m going to give this series one more try with book three. Maybe it‘s the translation that makes it so stilted and hard to read?

Susanita We read book 3 for mystery book club a couple years ago, and nobody particularly liked it ... but it does have its moments. We all went in cold, so you might like it more having already met the characters. 5y

I ABSOLUTELY love this series as a whole. Some of them have only gotten 3 stars on my GoodReads but not because they‘re horrible or anything like that. It‘s because Camille kind of forgets about continuing with character development and she ends up dropping a lot of side stories that really need more exploration. However, I love her and Patrik and Erika and this whole world to the point I‘m teaching myself Swedish.
