Words That Work
Words That Work: How to Get Kids to do Anything | Alicia Eaton
2 posts | 1 read | 2 to read
Too many parents, and teachers for that matter, struggle to get their requests heard, understood and taken seriously kids just dont seem to be able to do as theyre told nowadays. InWords that Work: How to Get Kids to Do Almost Anything, author Alicia Eaton, a leading Harley Street Hypnotherapist & Advanced NLP Practitioner, explains how much easier it is to get children to co-operate, simply by changing the vocabulary and structure of your sentences. She shows how powerful words are if you know about the NLP language of persuasion and influence. And also shares the secret to slipping hypnotic influence into day-to-day conversations. Originally a Montessori teacher and a mother to three, now grown-up children, Alicias combined all her skills, knowledge and expert training to create this unique parenting system that really works. So whether the issue is mealtime arguments over fussy eating or junk food cravings; an anxiety or phobia about dogs, spiders, going to school or exams; a lack of confidence; bad habits such as nail-biting, thumbsucking or bedwetting, youll quickly learn what to say and what not to say.Youll be able to put an end to the nagging and yelling that gets you nowhere and wears you out; reward systems and star charts that quickly lose their appeal; bribery and punishments that achieve nothing and make everyone feel bad.Parents who appear to have well-behaved, happy, high achieving kids are not just plain lucky - quite simply, theyre handling things differently and with a bit of inside knowledge, you can too.

DeborahSmall @LeahBergen Me too, especially those with great covers or special editions, I just fondle them occasionally to prolong the enjoyment 😉💕 8y
Alfoster OMG @DeborahSmall @LeahBergen I'm laughing so hard right now! These posts would never be understood by anyone but Book Nerds! My husband came in while I was reading this and I couldn't explain fondling in this context! Fortunately, he just rolled his eyes when I told him it was Litsy!😂😂 8y
LeahBergen @Alfoster @DeborahSmall ?? My husband calls it "playing with my books" or "doing the book thing". 8y
mjdowens I got caught sitting on the floor in front of some of my stacks and my husband asks me what I am doing. Nothing, just admiring the view. I got the eye roll too🙄 8y
Cobscook All I can say to this post and these comments is SAME😂😂😂 8y
Bostonmomx2 I saw this a few times today. I rarely buy books anymore. Last year between 2 library books sales I bought about 20 books and I've yet to read a single one. I get really anxious when I have too many unread books here. I've learned to read mostly library books 😀 8y
kspenmoll There is something satisfying in surveying books/ contemplating the abundance of the world right there in their covers. Happy place! ❤ 8y
Cinfhen Truth 🙌🏻 8y

Not bad, but I'm to lazy to put the lessons into practice. The author talks about how to word things so your child is more likely to listen, and that part is helpful. The visualization stuff is weird.
