The Princess Diaries: Take Two
The Princess Diaries: Take Two | Meg Cabot
14-year-old Mia Thermopolis is still coming to terms with the fact that she’s a princess – and heir to the throne of Genovia! But when she announces on national TV that her mum is pregnant by her algebra teacher and plans to marry him, a right-royal fuss results! For now Mia’s dreadful old Grandmere is all set to plan the year’s biggest society wedding, with every A-list celeb invited, from the Reagans to Phil Collins. But will the bride and groom turn up?

This one felt like total filler to me. Minimal character development, mostly for Lily and a cousin named Hank.

Sometimes I feel weird giving a pick to both a meaty classic and a contemporary YA, but I have to stop and remind myself that each book has its own purpose. This one is primarily to entertain, and on that score, I believe it does.

Book two in The Princess Diaries series has Mia still trying to come to terms with the discovery of her princess-ship, while balancing a new development in her home life. All this, while navigating a typical teen crush.

Challenge | Day 12

I don‘t have books that involve activism, but I always remember Lilly Moscovitz when I think about it.

Princess Mia is such a lovable and relatable character which makes the second installment of "Princess Diaries" fun and easy to read. I think almost every girl's dream is to be princess but not everyone looks like one which makes the book a peoples' book, something that is close to people's heart. I have no doubt that Mia would be a great ruler to Genovia.

"Hey, I thought my mom was a feminist who didn‘t believe in the male hierarchy and was against the subjugation and obfuscation of the female identity that marriage entails." (for a preteen to read this it was so educational and this series was my intro to feminism ?)
