A soft pick for book 6 of the Thumps Dreadful water series. Thumps is a suitably cranky misanthrope with a gigantic soft spot (a subplot finds him caring for a litter of kittens) but the mystery was kind of meh and the small town of Chinook might have surpassed the acceptable quota of quirky locals. Still I liked it enough to keep going, appreciated the subtle incorporation of racial politics, and I love kittens! 🤪 I might go back and try book 1.

merelybookish This was my final FINAL #cloakanddaggerchristmas read. For Last Christmas. One take away from doing the challenge is that it helps to read a series in order. 😉 @Ruthiella 12mo

Headed to our 3rd family gathering in 24 hours and felt a need to bring my book. While I'm grateful to spend time with family, part of me is craving some alone time. 🙃

I really enjoy this series and highly recommend it for those who have read and enjoyed oher works by King, and those who like mystery series with calm, laid-back protagonists.

Weird that two books in a row—Pascoe‘s Ghost, by Reginald Hill, and Deep House, by Thomas King—both mention the Edgar Allan Poe poem “Ulalume”.

Suzze I‘m always amazed with things like that happen! 2y

A “Christmas Carol Concept” meets “College Football History”. Well not the Christmas Carol exactly, but it involves ghosts. In this one a college football fan dies. After his death he meets the ghost of Red Grange. Red take the dead fan on a history tour of College Football. A pretty creative idea.

This is my review for a devotional I started reading in 2019. I‘m finished. I didn‘t think it would take me this long but I‘m not starting another devotional this year. I‘m going to take a break from it. I‘ll start another one next year.
