I picked this #ARC I‘ve had on my Kindle for ages for #SeasonalCozies because it was set in March. So not really too seasonal at all.🤷🏻‍♀️ Overall, it was a fine foodie cozy mystery. I liked the Grenadian bakery in in NYC setting & the MC‘s (Lyndsay) relationship with her family & the neighborhood. The mystery was pretty easy to solve but that‘s a cozy for you. I have the next 2 books ⬇️

DebinHawaii …books (more ARCs) loaded to read & I‘ll give them a go. I hope the MC grows a bit more in maturity & confidence but it‘s still a pick. Being a foodie cozy, there are a couple of recipes in the back including one for the bakery‘s speciality, currant rolls.🥐🥖🍞😋 8mo

I couldn‘t settle on a cozy mystery for Match with an Easter or St. Paddy‘s Day theme so instead the tagged book is my pick for #SeasonalCozies It‘s a foodie cozy, takes place in NYC & the Caribbean bakery it‘s set around is opening during March. First in a series, I‘ve had the ARC on my Kindle for ages (& the second & third books too) so I am happy to have a push to finally read it & get the series started!

Everything I want from a cosy mystery and I LOVED the Caribbean background, Grenadian culture and baked goods, and New York neighbourhood drama. I‘m really excited to read the rest of the series. It‘s cool to see an urban setting cosy mystery against a different cultural background than most cosies. Highly highly recommend!

I enjoyed almost every part of this book.....except our MC. She was too timid, too wishy washy, too hypocritical; too everything not great. The rest of her family and all the other characters were great. Also, I greatly want a currant roll and a hot ginger tea now. But seriously, I'll definitely read book 2 to see if she gets better as the series goes on.

The Spice Isle Bakery Mysteries are off to a great start with Against the Currant. The characters are unique and interesting as is the setting of the Little Caribbean neighborhood in Brooklyn.
