Omg! I‘m done with The Lucky Ones and it did not disappoint!! #Edwards keeps me on my toes, when I think I know what is going on BAM he shows me how wrong I was. Next The Devil‘s Works, the title alone puts a smile on my face😜❤️💋#excited #Sundayread

Having read many of Edwards‘ books, this was one of my favourites. It helped that part of the story takes place at Sussex University, at the same time that I was studying there myself, and two of the characters even have a drink in one of my favourite Brighton pubs - when you can relate to details in a story, it ups the creepiness! The story was fast paced and there were some decent twists and turns. Less farcical than some of his other work!

Next up....a Mark Edwards novel. I am preparing myself for a ridiculous storyline with unbelievable plot twists, like his other books. Despite this, there is just something that is appealing about his work and they are normally easy readers...great for post-op, medication hazed reading! 🤪

Happy Friday!! I leave for Disneyland on Sunday and I'm excited! I'm going with my best friend, which is also exciting since I don't get to see her very often anymore because we live on opposite sides of the country! 🔹 what are your plans for the weekend?

The twists and turns of this thriller were shaping a very enjoyable novel with a slowly revealed back story adding to the suspense but then Edwards went one twist too far and it became a farce. The protagonist was a bit annoying at times and the dialogue a little unrealistic but I could have forgiven that however the end just ruined everything. Mark Edwards doesn't know when to stop. A twist without logic is just poor writing.

MrBook Nice review! 8y

I'd been enjoying this book but feared it was heading towards a horrific plot twist. And sadly I was right. I've just read the big twist and it resulted in a Picard style facepalm (hence the meme). I'll pick the book up again tomorrow to see if the final parts of the book can salvage it but right now I'm too angry.

I'm dipping back into the world of Mark Edwards for possibly the last time. The first book I read by him was his fourth novel, Follow You Home, which I loved. Since then I read two earlier books by him - Because She Loves Me which was ok but was let down by a poor ending and then his first novel, The Magpies, which I really didn't like. I'm hoping this, his latest book, will show he's an author that's improved with experience. Hope I like it.

A dark book full of mystery and suspense. If anybody's ever been a supervisor and had to ask themselves, "Am I the crazy one?" You can relate to this book. Plenty of "Oh nos!!!" and some definite ""What??!!!s" It had me feeling like a noob detective pointing fingers at everyone and finding out none of them were right. Lol good stuff.

Chris Rock jokes about women always have that one woman at work out to destroy them. As you grow older you realize at every job there's always that one a**hole. Sometimes they're obvious and sometimes they're super sneaky. And as evidenced by this quote they're also known as the oneupper. Lol there's always one at work and usually one in the family. Just wants to compete. All. The. Time. I feel real bad for this main character Sophie.

The Devil's Work - Mark Edwards. Highly recommended story which switches between 2000 and 2015 as Sophie, having landed her dream job, finds herself dragged into a gradually incurring nightmare as her past comes to the present to haunt her. Full of excellent characters and shocking twists, this is dark fiction at its best.

MrBook Welcome to @Litsy ! We hope you enjoy your stay, I think you'll like it here 😎👍🏻. 8y
