(Crouchback is a medieval word derived from cross-back and indicates participation in a crusade) Crouchback is the first book in The Welsh Guard Mysteries. This was even better as an audiobook. I now understand the difference between Rhys and Reese, too, which is important to this entire series.

GingerAntics @Texreader weird moment, but I put a citation for each book in my reading journal (it‘s a thing, I‘m a nerd) and Woodbury‘s books have gotten complicated as of late. (edited) 3y
GingerAntics @Texreader a new publisher popped up so I was looking for location info so I could properly site this audiobook, and I seem to have found the official company listing on a website of corporations. She self publishes, but probably for accounting reasons she and her husband have started a publishing company. I doubt they know how easy it was to find this listing, because the given address for the publishing company is their house. 3y
GingerAntics @Texreader if you Google the address, you can even see the outside of their house, how many bedrooms and bathrooms they have (thanks to Zillow). I was expecting an office building, but it‘s a lovely little white home in Oregon. Whoops. Don‘t Google it. 😂 3y

GingerAntics @Texreader she really is. Who turned down these stories?! They used to be published by someone else, if I remember correctly. Maybe she felt she had greater freedom by publishing on her own. She would certainly make more money that way. 3y

GingerAntics @Texreader actually, based on what I just read on her blog, she‘s always been self published. None of the NY publishing houses wanted any of her first books, so she decided “they weren‘t doing [her] any good just sitting on [her] laptop.” 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess it‘s lucky for us she had that thought. 3y
GingerAntics @Branwen her Gareth and Gwen Medieval Mysteries series has a stronger female lead. That‘s a much longer series already though, so I‘m trying to listen to the three in this series so far before diving into that series. I‘m not very familiar with Welsh, so I‘m really enjoying hearing the proper pronunciations. 3y
Texreader @GingerAntics Good for her! I find self published books tend to be poorly edited with typos. Again extra kudos to her for an excellent product and she deserves the financial reward. When we were first into her books I remember looking at her website. It seems she had a healthy sized audience 3y
GingerAntics @Texreader it certainly seems that way. I was reading a blog post she did about getting published and self publishing, and she said no book should be published before it‘s on like it‘s 9th draft. She said to get professional editing and cover design. She‘s certainly part of a group trying to make a better name for self published work. 3y
