Casey helped me finish THE COMPANION earlier. It was my first E.E. Ottoman, after years of curiosity about his books, and I very much appreciated it as a celebration of trans love and self-acceptance, all wrapped up in woodsy writing vibes.
That said, I wanted more emotional grounding before the romances actually kicked off, and I feel like the book needed one more close line edit to fix issues like missing words and homonyms.
pickRead after Three Kings, the other book in RAD box. The sentences are sparse- less poetic however the poly relationship was well done. In TK I found the poly problematic but here perfect. The trans representation was also IMO well done. Overall a pick. Cozy with chapters where not much happens but they set tone for setting and mental status. Content warnings were unnecessary or maybe I‘m insensitive.
pickOh, this book is lovely, like deep, calming breaths. Trans, polyam, the woods, creativity - this was kind a perfect novella for me in this moment.
