i actually finished this awhile ago, but forgot to post about it!
i recommend this book, if you're into space, and a good mystery. 5/5!

I fit in one more audiobook this afternoon to round out my end of year stats. This is a middle grade novel about bullying, the ones being bullied, the ones participating as a method of self protection, and the ones bullying. I liked it and I think it has a good message, but I‘ll be curious as to whether the girls it‘s intended for will appreciate and learn from it as well.

The narrator of this book was so incredibly frustrating, but in a very real way. I felt like I could have been reading about any of my middle schoolers and I will definitely be recommending this at work! It was very well done! #MiddleGradeMarch @megnews @sblbooks
Jennifer is the new kid at middle school and steps to the beat of her own drummer. She has trouble fitting in; she believes in aliens, and thinks she can find them. Then she disappears…soft pick MG novel.

Well, my 11-year-old bailed about 1/3 of the way through this book; a shame too, I think if she had stuck with it she would‘ve enjoyed it. I, however, was too invested to not finish it. In my daughter‘s defense, I could see how the jumping from Now to Then may be a bit confusing; I thought it was done well, though. Overall, the story is well written, a touch ‘squishy‘ near the end but it‘s heart is in the right place.
Middle grade realistic fiction dealing with bullying (and possibly aliens).
Started this with my eleven-year-old last night. I have a good feeling about it!
I‘m lukewarm about this middle-school anti-bullying story, but I‘d love to hear from tweens about their impressions. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#jennifer-chan-is-not-alone
