This story can be relatable to many children, and can be a faster read because it is a graphic novel. Because of this it could be a popular suggestion for the older grades. The text and the illustrations were very enjoyable.

Everyone at school is interested in crushed and dating but Jen is not, so this adds to even more of the challenge she has to navigate through
pickJen and Andy take on gender roles, respect, romance (or an abhorrence for it), bullying (a little), and friendship as Andy falls for a boy and Jen just wishes romance would disappear. Cozy and delightful. I enjoyed adding another pumpkin-attraction-themed book to my fall repertoire. I‘ve read nonfiction by Lucy, and this was a really fun addition. The bullying subplot fizzled a bit, but the rest of the story was highly satisfying. #comics
I only just noticed that this is by the woman who wrote travelogues An Age of License, and Displacement 🤯 I really enjoyed those books, and am delighted to be reading her fiction now. #Comics

pickCute second book in the Stepping Stones graphic novel series. I always enjoy Lucy Knisley. This middle grade series is fiction, but largely inspired by Lucy‘s childhood.
This one would be good for October if you want something light and sweet to mix in with your spooky reads. Set on a farm/pumpkin patch during the lead-up to Halloween.
so-so3 ⭐ This is a sequel to Stepping This book was slow and a bit boring. There was a little teasing about liking a friend that can be seen in standard tween life, and a bit about starting all over someplace new. I didn‘t not get a chance to really delve into the characters. However, I did read enough to know that I don‘t care if I ever finish the book.
