Katie Zhao, author of The Dragon Warrior series and Last Gamer Standing Packed with humor and heart, this debut middle grade series follows a girl finding her place in a brand-new world of private school and frenemies when her family moves to Hong Kong. Holly-Mei Jones couldnt be more excited about moving to Hong Kong for her mothers job. Her new school is right on the beach and her familys apartment is beyond beautiful. Everything is going to be perfect . . . right? Maybe not. It feels like everywhere she turns, there are new rules to follow and expectations to meet. On top of that, the most popular girl in her grade is quickly becoming a frenemy. And without the guidance of her loving Ah-ma, who stayed behind in Toronto, Holly-Mei just cant seem to get it right. It will take all of Holly-Meis determination and sparkle (and maybe even a tiny bit of stubbornness) to get through seventh grade and turn her life in Hong Kong into the ultimate adventure!

This is such a good #middlegrade #diverseread book..cute, fun, and enjoyable. Holly-Mei is a regular tween in Toronto but her mother‘s job promotion had them relocate to Hong Kong, where she needs to navigate new challenges in a prestigious private school. It gives a glimpse into the life of the wealthy and elite, and touches on topics like friendships, family, heritage, and parental pressure. It‘s refreshing to read about ⬇️

erzascarletbookgasm …confident, happy, realistic Asian characters. The book is the author‘s love letter to Hong Kong. Reading this makes me miss Hong Kong so much! 2y

I‘ve complained about Inkyard Press before, I don‘t think their books are edited well, but I must say that I really enjoyed this book about a Twainese-Canadian family that moves to Hong Kong when Mom gets a big promotion. Middle school is difficult enough without getting uprooted but Holly-Mei is determined to make the most of it even if one of the most popular girls in the school seems to have it out for her. Another fun read. On sale 4/5/22.

LibrarianRyan I have that. I just got a sprite package from inkyatd this week. 3y
