The Temperature of Me and You
The Temperature of Me and You | Brian Zepka
7 posts | 7 read | 2 to read
Sixteen-year-old Dylan Highmark thought his winter was going to be full boring shifts at the Dairy Queen, until he finds himself in a fiery first love, literally. Dylan has always wanted a boyfriend, but the suburbs surrounding Philadelphia do not have a lot in the way of options. Then, in walks Jordan, a completely normal (and undeniably cute) boy who also happens to run at a cool 110 degrees Fahrenheit. When the boys start spending time together, Dylan begins feeling all kinds of ways, and when he spikes a fever for two weeks and is suddenly coughing flames, he thinks he might be suffering from something more than just a crush. Jordan forces Dylan to keep his symptoms a secret. But as the pressure mounts and Dylan becomes distant with his closest friends and family, he pushes Jordan for answers. Jordan's revelations of why he's like this, where he came from, and who's after him leaves Dylan realizing how much first love is truly out of this world. And if Earth supports life that breathes oxygen, then love can only keep Jordan and Dylan together for so long. THE TEMPERATURE OF ME AND YOU is the story of first love, and the lengths we'll go to figure out our hearts. What starts as an electric, chance encounter at a Dairy Queen leads to first love, a journey of trust and identity, and a ticking clock for survival.

The neighbor cat was hanging out with me today 🐱.

This is a good YA book. I'm about 1/2 way into it. A little slow in the romance/relationship area but I'm enjoying the story.

Starting this one today 💛. @Nutmegnc I will let you know what I think 🤔.

My goal for March (and April and May 😅) is to stop downloading new books on my Kindle and read the 2 shelves of books that I have. Yeah... we'll see how that goes... Anyway, starting with this one 👍. I had pre-ordered If This Gets Out so technically that counts, right?

inthegreensandblues I also tend to go on Kindle sprees and then buying bans to make up for it 😂 3y
chasjjlee @inthegreensandblues yesss, there are just soooo many books at your fingertips on Kindle. Sometimes I forget I even have a physical bookshelf 😅. 3y

We made it to Florida and got my folks all settled in for the winter. While this is certainly not a place I'd choose for a vacation I can't argue with the private beach. Since we're already here we're going to stay a few days before driving back home. I don't plan on moving from this spot.

Kappadeemom Which beach? I was at the beach this morning too! 3y
GondorGirl @Kappadeemom It's in Port St Lucie. 3y
booksbrewsandbooze I like this plan! There‘s snow heading our way, lol 3y
Kappadeemom @GondorGirl l figured it was on the Atlantic by the color of the sand ;) Enjoy the beautiful weather! 3y
tokorowilliamwallace Yay, Florida! Welcome to our humble little twilight zone dreamscape. 3y

The trouble with packing for any sort of trip is deciding which books to bring. I mean, I'll have my kindle, but sometimes you just want a real book, ya know?

We're leaving tomorrow to get my folks settled in Florida for part of the winter. Mom's arthritis gets unbearable in the cold, so my cousin offered to let them use her vacation home in Port St. Lucie. We're still avoiding people, but the condo is in a gate community, so it should be okay.

Tamra So hard! I‘m a mood reader so I hate the thought of trying to decide in advance. 3y

Pickpick

Dylan wants a boyfriend but such a thing isn‘t easy to come by in the Philadelphia suburbs. And then Jordan walks into the Dairy Queen where Dylan works & makes a blizzard explode. Curious & more than a little interested, Dylan befriends Jordan…& then things get even more complicated. The science fiction element often felt like an after thought but there are some great characters & the story is fun. On balance, an ok YA SF. On sale 1/25/22.
