Simultaneously heart-pounding and hilarious, Robyn Schneider gives us a veritable romp through Camelot fueled by adventure and romance. --Kerri Maniscalco #1 NYT bestselling author of The Kingdom of the Wicked and Stalking Jack the Ripper Channeling the modern humor of The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, bestselling author Robyn Schneider creates a Camelot that becomes the ultimate teen rom-com hotspot in this ultra-fresh take on the Arthurian legend. Welcome to the great kingdom of Camelot! Prince Arthur's a depressed botanist who would rather marry a library than a princess, Lancelot's been demoted to castle guard after a terrible lie, and Emry Merlin has arrived at the castle disguised as her twin brother since girls can't practice magic. Life at court is full of scandals, lies, and backstabbing courtiers, so what's a casually bisexual teen wizard masquerading as a boy to do? Other than fall for the handsome prince, stir up trouble with the foppish Lord Gawain, and offend the prissy Princess Guinevere. When the truth comes out with disastrous consequences, Emry has to decide whether she'll risk everything for the boy she loves, or give up her potential to become the greatest wizard Camelot has ever known.

When Merlin's feckless son is summoned to King Uther's court to train as an apprentice wizard, his far more competent sister Emry takes his place (temporarily!). Loved the masquerade, the inclusivity and Arthur as a bookish library boy.

I loved this! So much fun. Do not read if you hold the King Arthur myth too close - in this version Merlin is a woman, Lancelot is in trouble for her relationship with a royal's son, and Guinevere is....not great. I loved the deception as Merlin dresses as a boy in her desire to learn magic and the cute budding love between her and Arthur. The relationships throughout are wonderful. The writing hugs YA territory but is enjoyable.

I‘ve read so many amazing books lately! I can‘t wait to share my April/May reading wrap up.

For now here is my most recent 5 star read. The cast of characters were enchanting, the romance was so well done, and the plot was completely engrossing! I cannot wait for the next book

This is a King Arthur retelling. I enjoying it very much. It is a YA maybe with silly parts but they were funny and it is full of action. There is representation to LGBTIQ+ The problem, well, there is a sequel. As a YA fantasy novel 3.8⭐️

I make poor decisions… like reading a book that came out in September 2021 without checking if it‘s a standalone…. And then finishing it far too quickly. Now I must wait, possibly forever, for the next installment of awesome.

The Other Merlin by Robyn Schneider is the first book in a series and an exciting new feminist take on Arthurian legend. The story revolves around Emry Merlin, the famous wizard Merlin's daughter. One day, she's playing a boy in a theater when a soldier arrives summoning Merlin's son, her twin brother Emmett, to court. She decides to take his place and arrives at the castle disguised as her brother.

I really dislike the cover of this book but I absolutely loved the story. This is for anyone who loves the idea of My Lady Jane in Camelot. I'm really interested to see where these books go and I hope there is more Gawain in the future.
