YA novel about a camping trip gone wrong. No surprising twists but an easy read
A year ago Cleo's abusive BF drowned on a group rafting trip. Now someone has set up a scary scavenger hunt taking her back through their relationship. Is it one of the friends she's grown away from in the past year or could Declan still be alive? This book is certainly creepy but it deals with some heavy topics too. Of course, true to YA, the MC takes some unnecessary risks, and no one wants to involve any adults, but it was pretty good.
I was halfway through this one when I realized I‘d been not terribly impressed by her previous book. Turns out that one was much better than this one. This book takes the good premise of a creepy scavenger hunt and makes it super dull. I will be actively avoiding this author in the future.

Last year, I first discovered Richards‘ writing and her latest is a YA thriller that I couldn‘t put down! It opens with Cleo receiving an unexpected birthday gift inviting her on a scavenger hunt- but it‘s soon clear that this isn‘t a friendly game. It revolves around the events leading up to a year prior- when seven friends left OH for a WV trip- and only six came home. Fast-paced and with some genuine surprises, this is a fun and exciting read!
