A quiet, slow-burn (eight years in the making) romance between a duke and his secretary. Not as angsty as some of Ms. Heath's books but still has some touching moments. I liked the respect accorded Pettypeace by the duke and his cohorts the Chessmen. I also really liked the way the author doled out the duke's growing feelings for Penelope. The main conflict was an intriguing twist I haven't read before. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A little alone time I got this one finished! I got another bingo! Merry Christmas to those celebrating and a happy day to those that don‘t! #bookspinbingo
I really enjoyed this one! Penelope has been the secretary to Hugh, the Duke of Kingsland (and hopelessly in love with him) for 8 years, and he considers her indispensable. He asks her to choose a wife for him, and she vows to pick the best lady possible. They are both hiding secrets that could destroy them. I loved the mains, their humor, their respect and admiration for the other, and especially how they stand by the other when needed. 4.5/5⭐️
