The Charlie Thorne books are full of interesting bits of science and history while also being action packed. This 2nd book of the series follows the 12 year old genius as she deciphers clues left by Charles Darwin to find an unknown treasure in a lost city of the Amazon. She teams up again with her half brother Dante and his CIA partner Milana in a race against some ruthless characters to find and protect the treasure.

I‘m reading a couple chapters of this second book in the Charlie Thorne series on my phone as I have time. This morning, my little bits of reading time including while watching and waiting for the overhead bin to fill.

I‘m not far into the book yet, but so far it‘s just as fun and action packed as the first one. Charlie is deciphering a coded message left on a Galapagos tortoise by Charles Darwin.

Daisey @DivineDiana In the story, Darwin carved the code into the plastron, or lower shell of a tortoise, and it is found when the tortoise is autopsied in the present. 🐢 3y

Daisey @JonasBlack Thanks! It does seem prettier in the photo where you can‘t see all the grain dust and chaff blowing around. 3y
