(2021) Alternate universes and clones and sentient furniture and anticorporate satire. What's not to love?
Really like the world building here, but far preferred Finna
Another LitenVarld adventure that I absolutely loved! This time we get to meet Derek, the employee who called in sick the night that the wormhole appeared. Now he's been assigned to do a special inventory overnight. And he quickly realizes that his role in the company is more complicated than he could ever imagine. This one hit me in the feels but was still a fantastic adventure that explores embracing your identity and finding where you belong.
This feels like more of a companion novella than direct sequel to Finna. Less focus on the interdimensional portals themselves, and more on what would happen if an unethical corporation tried to profit from rather than eliminate the problem. Capitalism, bad! Found family good. Being true to yourself, even better. Warning: teensy bit of body horror. Mostly social commentary sci-fi. Non-binary character and author, yay!
I thoroughly enjoyed this follow up to Finna which follows another LitenVärld employee named Dereck. He's a model employee but when he's faced with four doppelgangers during an after hours inventory, everything he thought he knew about himself and LitenVärld is turned on its head. It's another madcap adventure and I loved it.
I love the world that Coptic has built here. I wasn‘t expecting a sequel to Finna, but I‘m so glad they wrote one. The Derek‘s are great and I loved trying to imagine what the “monsters” would look like. I think this dog might be defekta to be completely honest.
Whoops, I really love Defekt! I love Derek and his journey, I love meeting your own potential/possibilities, I love weird living furniture, and I love collective action to try and change the systems we are all trapped in! I hope Cipri comes back to this world again someday.
