I adored ‘Finding Langston‘ and looked up more books by the collaboration between Lesa Cline-Ransome and husband James. I know of the Underground Railroad but not Overground Railroad. This children‘s book tells of a family‘s journey north during the Great Migration. Like many others who were exploited by the sharecropping system, they escaped for a better life in the north. Gorgeous illustrations.

It is similar to the Underground Railroad, but the families board an overground railroad on their way to the north for freedom. It tells a sweet story of a family escaping their ‘picking‘ lives to go to New York to live a great free life.
