They call him a monster. More wolf than man—more dangerous than any predator. They have no idea. Joe Peluso has blood on his hands. He took out the mobsters responsible for killing his foster brother, and that one act of vigilante justice has earned him countless enemies in New York's supernatural-controlled underworld. He knows that shifters like him deserve the worst. Darkness. Pain. Solitude. But meeting Neha makes him feel human for the first time in forever. Lawyer and psychologist Neha Ahluwalia knows Joe is guilty, but she's determined to help him craft a solid defense...even if she can't defend her own obsession. Just one look from the wolf shifter makes her skin burn hot and her pulse race. When a payback hit goes wrong, Neha's forced to make a choice: help Joe escape or leave him to his fate. Before long they're on the run—from the monsters who want him dead, from their own traitorous hearts, and from an attraction that threatens to destroy them.

Mehso-so

Book 6 of 2024: I really wanted to like this book but I had a hard time getting into it. The plot and character is not bad but it's definitely fiction. I understand I am reading a paranormal/fantasy book but atleast it can be kinda believable. I could see how things were going to play out well before it ever happened. Very predictable. I did enjoy the one characters who was hysterical.

Mehso-so

It was okay, not sure it lived up to the hype for me but romantic suspense isn‘t really my jam so that may be why. It did keep me reading and it was an interesting alternative world to disappear into for awhile. I‘m giving it a pick but it was nearly a so-so. #20in4 @Andrew65

Pickpick

My first book by this author and I can‘t wait to read more from her. This is a shifter paranormal romance with some mob drama thrown in, which sounds like a typical paranormal romance- but it‘s not! Snyder has built a post 2016 election world that‘s so close to truth that it‘s scary. Nationalism is up, as is racism and species-ism now that shifters, vampires and more have made themselves known.

Lauren_reading Neha is a lawyer working her first major case. Joe is ex military and on trial for killing the Russian mobsters that murdered his cousin. In a strange and dangerous mix of events, the two develop feelings for each other and are on the run. Seeing how Joe‘s case ties into a larger problem and involves higher ups, Third Shift helps them out. 4y

Started out slow, but I really like the characters and by mid-point I was very invested in the story. The main romance is very insta-love and with the multiple character viewpoints, it had more of an urban fantasy feel than paranormal romance. The worldbuilding was very gritty, almost dystopian. Definitely not a US I hope we ever see. But, again, it was the characters that made this book. I enjoyed all of them. More Third Shifters please!
