⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was well written and researched and there were some interesting passages, especially (to me) about the role of women in war, but man did this wander from one topic to the next without much apparent rhyme or reason. I had no idea what was coming next or how what I was listening to built on what had just been covered. If you‘re interested in the history of war, definitely check it out, but otherwise you can probably pass this by…

Is peace an aberration? Are wars inevitable? Is conflict hardwired into what it means to be human? This book discusses those issues and more. Many advancements have come from wars, but a high price to human life. It seems the more "civilized" we become the more likely, not less, we are to wage more and more horrible conflagrations. 4 ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

So this book has a lot of information pertaining to armed conflicts and their history. If there is any negatives about the book it is that each topic is covered very quickly, none of the material should be considered comprehensive. Nevertheless, this book has a lot of interesting history and opinions related to the impact of armed conflicts.
