Caras parents unrealistic expectations have already sent her twin brother Conner spiraling toward suicide. For her, perfect means rejecting their ideals to take a chance on a new kind of love. Kendra covets the perfect face and bodyno matter what surgeries and drugs she needs to get there. To score his perfect home runon the field and offSean will sacrifice more than he can ever win back. And Andre realizes that to follow his heart and achieve his perfect performance, hell be living a life his ancestors would never understand. Once again I get to keep the crown of the queen who reads out of order! 🙄. In any event it really didn‘t take away from the experience of this read. Although the topics are difficult the writing just pulls you in and holds tight. It‘s a keeper for sure.

Another twisted tale from Ellen Hopkins 💜 I love the way she intertwines her characters to make the whole book one connected world. As always, she does a great job hitting issues that are controversial in nature. Would definitely recommend!

This book kept me hooked THE WHOLE TIME. I absolutely love Ellen Hopkins and was so excited to read this one. I was completely immersed in every page. The different point of views from the characters and being inside their different worlds are one of the things that makes me loves Ellen‘s writing. This is arguably one of my favorite books that she has released!

Djspens I love that cover!! 6y

I've read a lot of Ellen Hopkins' books so I was super excited to pick this one up since it's one of the few that I haven't read yet. This one is living up to her other books and it's so good! I'm over halfway through and hoping to finish it up today

Cedricsmom Is it mystery? Thriller? Romance? 6y
JillPill @Cedricsmom It's YA, about four teens all going through really heavy stuff. Drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, ect. 6y

I feel like this book had a more accurate representation of teens trying to strive for perfection compared to 'Impulse' which had some slightly concerning misrepresentations of mental illness and those kinds of medications (being someone who both takes and mother takes these medications and have both been in an institution.) I wasn't sure about reading this book, but I'm glad I pushed myself to read it! Much better 😀

This book is a companion of Impulse and I liked it so much more! Through most of it I didn't think the order of reading mattered but after finishing I'm glad I read it second. The writing was beautiful and engaging.
I would have liked to see more wrap up in 3/4 storylines.

Sequel to Impulse.

Though there are brief appearances by the main characters from Impulse (Connor, Vanessa, and Tony), this story deals with four new(ish) characters--Cara, Sean, Kendra, and Andre.

They are all trying to live up to their ideas of perfection, and finding that perfect isn't all they thought it would be. Don't pick this one up if you're looking for happy endings!

I read this for the SWON TRC. I read some of her books last year and they all deal with tough subjects. Her books are definitely for older teens and will hopefully teach them very good lessons.
