pickA low pick for this Halloween novella. A cute story about a witch and her familiar in Australia, where a paranormal hunter has recruited her to help investigate a murder. With more thought and editing, it could be a much better story. Alas, the 1st half is plagued with the witch asking herself continuously “Is he going to arrest me?” I was about ready for him to do so and get it over with. Saved by a unique plot. #scarathlon #teamslaughter

2) It‘s almost Halloween so normally I‘d reread Dracula or The Historian, but my work next month is going to be wicked, so no time for tomes. So I‘m looking forward to reading a lot of the freebies I‘ve picked up over the year, hoping for short, light, & fluffy reading and picking up points for my team!
pickThis was a short fun mystery with a paranormal feel to it. I love the cat he's brilliant. The story was too short to get a real feel for the characters but I enjoyed it all the same. The mystery was fun and the football game so funny. Spooky fun mystery. 3* #TeamSlaughter #scarathlon2020

so-so3🌟 I read this cozy novella in an hour and it's cute enough, but I wanted more magic. Adeline finds her neighbor Harrison dead in his pawn shop & ends up helping hot Aussie Visa Control agent Jackson investigate, all while keeping her witchy ways secret. In an alternate Australia, paranormal are rounded up & shipped to Tartarus Island. We also meet a couple of vampires, nuns with hairy legs, & Adeline's familiar, a sassy cat named Pudding.
