I enjoyed this one, I'm not sure why the rating is so low. The jungle setting was fantastic, I just missed some of the magic from the first book.

The sequel to Woven in Moonlight, this one should definitely not be read until you've read Moonlight, as it picks up immediately at the conclusion of that book. Overall I did enjoy this one, even though the MC seemed a bit thick at times - she was so obsessed with her goal that she couldn't see any other way forward, which I get was part of her character development but still. This one also felt a little scattered with the journey through the ⬇ï¸
I don't mind when authors use non-English words in their stories to help make things more authentic, but a glossary would be super nice, especially when there aren't a lot of contextual clues. And places like here - why use the English word for lemon, but then the Spanish word for orange? For me, it interrupts the flow when I am stopping to look up words all the time.
#BookReport - Slow reading week this week. Love At First was okay. Kitty's Class Day was probably my least-favorite Alcott book I've ever read - I don't think she lends herself to short stories very well, and the alternate title of “Proverb Stories“ gives you an idea of the fact that these were very moralizing little tales. I was excited about this as I had enjoyed Ibanez‘s Woven in Moonlight. However, this story focuses on the outcast Condesa, Catalina, and her adventures in the forest and her search for allies to get her throne back from Ximena. The descriptions of the forest are gorgeous and the live story between Catalina and Manuel, son of the former General, is cute and all right. Catalina does grow as an individual but I found her irritating.
Cozy morning view on this dreary day... I post a lot less pictures because most ARCs I read are in e-format due to COVID.
Looking forward to some quite time after weeks of craziness â˜•ï¸ ðŸ“–
