Gosh, I loved this quote. "To Sophie, books always carried secret messages tailored to speak specifically to her. They were like horoscopes, giving her exactly what she needed at the moment."

Endearing and classic woman's fiction centered around their friendship and a massive misunderstanding/miscommunication/glitch in decade long friendships. Just very, very, very slow pacing.

I didn‘t want to put this book down. It was one that I didn‘t think I was going to like and I picked it up hesitantly. But, I loved it. It‘s a story about 3 women who are stationed with their husbands for the army and meet through an army book club. They grow apart and come back together and reflect on the things that tore them apart in the past. I loved the book references and the writing and thought this was a really nice and easy book to read!

Ugh, I can‘t get over how much I love Sophie and Adelaide. 😭 I‘m so curious about this book club falling out!! I‘ve gobbled up this book.

I enjoyed this for its focus on military families, and the struggles they face, as well as female friendships. And books! These three women are all in the process of making career decisions & they are all examining their romantic relationships but those are tangential to the real story which is: can these women find their way back to the friendship they had 10 years ago before The Fight drove a wedge between two of them? A couple spoilers below:

I always sound like a broken record when it comes to my reviews of Tif Marcelo's books. It's because I see myself in her characters. For one, there's always a Filipina in her stories. And Filipino food, of course.

With this book in particular, I see myself in all three women--Regina, Adelaide, and Sophie. I'm a military spouse (Air Force, not Army) and a founding member of a book club initially comprised of military spouses.

Read this entire book and at the end I was just relieved that they all finally made a decision! Three friends that are part of military families find each other in a book club. A matter in the past has driven them apart until one gets ill and needs help. Too much indecision in this read and at the end I was just finished with the book! Blah.

Day 2 of Tom and Jerry. The kids watched it with me yesterday and with my hubby today. I have in my #SkullCandy earbuds listening to the scanner traffic in Boulder City CO.
This Boom was a nice escape from reality, but hit close enough to home that it felt like I would fit in with these women.

I admit to feeling a little limited with March‘s #BOTM choices because I already have ARCs of three of them! This is an easy and straightforward read of three women who originally met in a book club ten years earlier. In three perspectives and switching from the two timelines, the lives and relationships of these women unfold. All tied to the Army, this sheds light on those processes- and also recommends a fair amount of good books!

It was just ok.

This book about female friendship was just okay. The story was a bit bland and predictable. #botm

#waitingroomreading seems to be a thing of the past. #parkinglotreading is my current situation.

I could not have chosen a more heartwarming and beautiful novel for this months Book of the Month. I enjoyed every moment of this book. A beautiful story about the power of love and friendship. A reminder that family is who we chose and that it takes a village, not only to raise a child, but to survive this crazy life.
