Just spent a week at Sandbar ⛺️. At home tonight & soaking all the grit off me in the 🛀. Do you ever go there @Freespirit ? If not, I recommend it. No mozzies or flies & close to home. We had the most perfect weather the 1st few days & then it poured. Lucky the Bookclub girls I went with also ❤️ an op shop. I got these as we went into town as a rainy day activity. It‘s a 1/2 hr drive. The op shops there have retained their low prices which I ❤️

For me, there were echoes of Marilynne Robinson's Lila and Emma Hooper's Our Homesick Songs.
I have just finished Wolfe Island. I recommend it. It makes you think... about the climate crisis.....about low lying lands and the people that inhabit them....about our future...I couldn‘t finish The Road but this had a compassion and a love of family woven into a dystopian future.
Next on the reading list is Hamnet which I am looking forward to ❤️

I am surprised that this will be the first review of Wolfe Island on Litsy. Its beautifully written and very atmospheric. Kitty lives on an island in Chesapeake Bay which is slowly slipping into the sea as a result of climate change..she makes art from found objects. The world is collapsing... it‘s dystopian but it‘s not hard to read!
Reading and painting is keeping me sane in this crazy world of ours.
