About a Rogue: Desperately Seeking Duke | Caroline Linden
5 posts | 5 read | 3 to read
The first book in the new series Desperately Seeking Duke from USA Today bestselling and RITA award-winning author Caroline Linden. It's no love match... Bianca Tate is horrified when her sister Cathy is obliged to accept an offer of marriage from Maximilian St. James, notorious rake. Defiantly she helps Cathy elope with her true love, and takes her sister's place at the altar. It's not even the match that was made... Perched on the lowest branch of his family tree, Max has relied on charm and cunning to survive. But an unexpected stroke of luck gives him an outside chance at a dukedom--and which Tate sister he weds hardly seems to matter. But could it be the perfect match? Married or not, Bianca is determined to protect her family's prosperous ceramics business, even when Max shows an affinity for it--not to mention a dangerous ability to intrigue and tempt Bianca herself. And when Max realizes how beautiful and intelligent and desirable Bianca is, he'll have to prove he's no rogue, but the passionately devoted husband she craves...

I was given an Advanced Review Copy in exchange for an honest review.

This regency romance was an homage to the Taming of the Shrew was fun, romantic and respectful. Bianca, in an attempt to save her sister from an unwanted marriage and to keep her beloved pottery factory in the family she begrudgingly marries Max. (Cont ⬇️) #romantsy

CoffeeK8 Max is the distant cousin of a Duke and is trying to prove himself after an unstable childhood. Bianca is initially very hard on Max but he meets her with understanding and humor. Their relationship deepens as they slowly fall in love and secrets of Max‘s past are revealed. 4y

I devoured this book in one day. It features some of my favorite tropes, enemies to lovers and marriage of convenience, plus a cast of incredible women and a swoon-worthy hero.

I never thought I‘d find the making of pottery and pottery glaze interesting, but the way Caroline Linden writes about it had me eagerly turning the page. She‘s fast becoming one of my auto-buy authors.

Enjoyed this first in the Desperately Seeking Duke series from one of my favorite historical romance authors. Max is a down-on-his-luck rogue who gets a second chance for redemption through a possible inheritance from a dukedom. Bianca is a headstrong young woman who works as a glazer at her father‘s high-end pottery works. Max sees a business opportunity as well as a perfect wife in Bianca‘s older sister. Bianca sees a gold-digging scoundrel 🔻

robinb and schemes to save her sister and their legacy. I loved both leads as headstrong, hard-working characters who discover that first impressions are often misleading. Max is compellingly sweet as he woos the intelligent, creative Bianca, and she is surprised to find a man she can trust and count on in Max. Nicely done.
The e-book version also includes a short novella featuring a sweet HEA for his valet Kit and her lady‘s maid Jennie. 4.25/5⭐️
