This was an interesting listen.
I knew Mara Wilson was the voice of the faceless old woman on the podcast so I loved that I got right back into the character because of her narration.

I loved that this book gave me her story told through the span of lifetimes, hers and many others, in such a vivid detail that I'm glad it was done in a book rather than another episode on the podcast.

I love the podcast Welcome to Night Vale, but didn‘t care for the other two books they‘ve put out. Still, I wanted to read this book because I adore the character, so finding it at the #littlefreelibrary was perfect!

13/150 More mainstream, i.e. less weird, than the other Nightvale books I've read, this was still an entertaining tale of betrayal and revenge across generations. Duel timelines are both ghost story and pirate adventure, with the two stories tying neatly together in the end. 3.75/5 stars.

This book is part of the Night Vale collection, but it stands alone and can be read without any prior knowledge of any of Night Vale book. Legit, read the first chapter of this book, let it grab you, let it wow you. That first chapter truly gives the reader a treat, and a great preview of what is to come while also maintaining a deeply eerie mystery. Blew through this book, couldn‘t put it down!

Vengeance is never the answer. It doesn't change the past, and it twists those who would wield it.
I was prepared for creepy, but not for the sad! And I miss the quirky, it was in very spare supply here vs in the Welcome to Night Vale podcast where the titular character first appears. 1/?

🎧 I loved the concept laid out in the summary. The narration was good.

There‘s a faceless old woman who secretly lives in everyone‘s house … she‘s making Craig‘s life a nightmare. In a series of stories told in flashback format you get her origin story.

This is a good Halloween book. Scary. Sadly it‘s number 3 in a current trilogy. Now I need to read the 2 other books.

Just couldn't get into it. The story didn't hold my interest enough to keep reading or to put it aside and try later.

First one down for September!
This was a good one 4⭐️
It‘s my first Night Vale, I didn‘t even realize it was 3rd in a series based on almost a decade of serial podcasts 🤯🤯 until it was pointed out to me here. That said it was super entertaining, a good stand-alone, with a bit of gore, lots of creepiness, plot twists and pirates! 🏴‍☠️

Starting this one. I always enjoy a trip to Night Vale.

Mara Wilson's narration was fantastic as always but the plot of this one left a lot to be desired for me. It was an interesting idea to give the faceless old woman a backstory but not completely necessary, and the plotline of her past meandered so much it didn't always seem worth it. Things picked back up toward the end though and I couldn't stop listening in the final few chapters.

Doing some #audiopuzzling on my day off! It's been years since I've listened to Welcome to Night Vale but I'm enjoying Mara Wilson's incredible narration on this as always.

the night vale books have been getting better and better witch successive release and this was probably the best book so far. I was surprised how detached this book is from most of the night vale lore and happenings, and it feels very distinctive from the previous 2 books. the ending is haunting in a specific way and I suspect it will stick with me for a while.

I had to think really hard for this one. I started going through the books I've read to see if any would fit. I came to the tagged book and realized any book about revenge would be suitable for this card. In books such as the tagged one or the Count of Monte Cristo the character becomes so obessed with revenge they miss out on everything else.
