"My father had nothing but impatience for anything that smacked of soul-searching. His answer to whatever ailed anyone was to go outside and tramp around in the woods. Even though he was born in Brooklyn, and we lived on Long Island, and he worked in Manhattan, his heart was set on returning to his soul‘s homeland, his Jerusalem: the state of Vermont."

Lesser, cofounder of Omega Institute, has written a very personal story about the death of her sister, Maggie Lake. Lesser talks about her less than stellar relationship with Maggie, her decision to donate stem cells, and their use of therapy sessions to give those stem cells a chance to succeed. It's a study in how people can repair relationships and in remembering that, ultimately, love always comes first.
The endpapers of this rich memoir are the drawings of the author's sister, Maggie Lake. More of her art can be seen at www.vermontbotanical.com.
Excited that this was at the library waiting for me! Very excited to read this one.
Trying to read and savor this book but it's hard this week. Might have to come back to it.
I opened this book, and BAM! These gorgeous endpapers! Just breathtaking 💜💜💜
Sitting on the porch at my mom's house relaxing with Marrow by Elizabeth Lesser, a fantastic memoir about the love between sisters and their fight against cancer.
