The Ninth Child

This was a good read, historical fiction with some supernatural elements. Set in Scotland by Loch Katrine in 1856, where they are attempting to bring clean water to Glasgow through canals and tunnels. Isobel Aird is married to a doctor and they are living at the Loch. Suffering many miscarriages she finds solace in this will place. Then comes a strange man Robert Kirke, who is not as he seems. I visited this place so was keen to read this.

I enjoy several POV but why there were so many here is beyond me. The pacing was terrible, more than 3/4 meandering build up to a finale that I didn't really care about. Dull, dull, dull but a gorgeous cover

Moray_Reads @saresmoore being back at work is strange in times of Covid. Much more stressful but I'm so grateful not to have faced furlough or redundancy. Wedding planning had been a ray of sunshine and my OH has made being away from my family just about bearable. "Keep going, try to keep smiling, keep hoping and keep looking out for each other" as our First Minister said last week 4y

so-so

I like historical fiction and I enjoyed this book, but it was hard going. I didn't really get in to it. The historical facts on the building of the aqueducts to supply Glasgow with fresh water, was really interesting. However I didn‘t like the parts about the faeries it seem to fit in to the story for me.
