Her childhood, how she became active politically, and her experience in jail, and what she drew from these experiences are all very interesting.
The only drawback for me was when she was talking in an enamored way about communism, like at the beginning of a relationship, when the other is absolutely perfect...
Easy to read, very well written.

*Angela Davis sports a “Kinky Afro” for real to this very day. My earliest memories of big Afros are of her in her youth: when she was involved with the Black Panthers; when she was jailed for her part in the Soledad Brothers hostage situation; and when she was fired from her position at UCLA (twice), and subsequently rehired after intervention from the Board of Regents. Davis was born in Birmingham, ⬇️
(cont) The gentleman who was selling this at the vintage market informed me that this was an original 1st ed copy (1974) and ex-library (which means its condition is near perfection). The cover seemed familiar when I first walked up, but I'm not sure where it came from! I can't remember who encouraged me to read it, but here it is 😀 A beauty, huh? ^o^
I went to the vintage market today, and I found several gems that I shall share over the next couple of days! This first find was an autobio of Angela Davis - a political activist who was formerly engaged w the Communist Party and the Black Panther Party in the 60s, and listed on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives. She is also a co-founder of Critical Resistance, an organization working to abolish the prison-industrial complex today. Oof 😍🤯
