This isn't a book, but on my commute to work today the EMA song 'Fire Water Air LSD' came on, so I thought of today's prompt. The song has a spoken-word poem toward the end, so I took an excerpt from that (words by Erika M. Anderson, transcription is courtesy of genius.com).

I received this today from Avid Bookshop in Athens, Georgia. I joined their subscription service. I gave them loads of info about books I've read and loved, books I've read and hated, and books on my TBR. Once a month they send me a surprise book based on my likes and dislikes. This was a complete surprise, so I'm digging right in.

I feel like I'm supposed to like this book but found it puzzling. The writing is beautiful but the male gaze element is difficult and Ema is somehow not the focus in the way you would expect. I'll need to think more on it but for now onwards to the next book! #24in48 #readathon @24in48
