A compulsively readable debut with a narrator you just can't trust, perfect for fans of Natasha Preston. As a child, Cassidy Pratt accidentally started a fire that killed her neighbor. At least, that's what she's been told. She can't remember anything from that day. She's pretty sure she didn't mean to do it. She's a victim too. But her town's bullies, particularly the cruel and beautiful Melody Davenport, have never let her live it down. In Melody's eyes, Cassidy is a murderer and always will be. When Cassidy overhears what sounded like an abduction and Melody goes missing, Cassidy knows she should go to the cops, but... She recently joked about how much she'd like to get rid of Melody. She even planned out the perfect way to do it. It's up to Cassidy to figure out what really happened, because if she comes forward without a suspect, she knows people will point fingers at her. Again. And she can't let that happen. But the truth behind Melody's disappearance will set the whole town ablaze.

4 stars! Wrapped this one up today. A YA debut thriller that delivered better than expected. The cover is certainly appealing. A whodunit reminiscent of Pretty Little Liars, with all the twist and turns one hopes for with a good thriller. I must admit, I wasn't crazy about how the title is ultimately worked into the storyline. Seems somewhat forced.

A digital library read for #bookspinbingo

Done in just over 3 hours! It was pretty okay. I figured it out sooner than I would‘ve like and I didn‘t really like the authors writing style when it came to conversations. But over all it was a solid YA suspense.

I locked myself out at camp 🤦🏻‍♀️ my husband has to drive two hours to rescue me. Thank goodness I grabbed this book while I was grocery shopping earlier and it‘s a fantastic 78 degrees! #impromtureading

I've made some solid progress on this one today. I'm about half way through. So far, in some ways, it's kind of reminding me of Pretty Little Liars. A whodunit for sure.

Starting this one. I'm back to my "dark and disturbing" reads. I just can't help myself.

This debut YA Thriller doesn‘t live up to the promise its oh-so-creepy cover delivers. Set in a small OR town, narrator Cassidy is known as “Fire Girl” & is on the receiving end of bullying, taunts & whispers for the last decade after an incident when she was younger. A new crime puts her in the middle of things, causing stress on her relationships. A lot of telling here & not much character development makes this not as much fun as I‘d hoped!

A bit creepy, and kind of a whodunnit. The main character is your typical, helpless, Bella-esque teen girl except she has a tragic past. She's known throughout her small town as "Fire Girl" after a fire trapped her & killed her best friend when they were young children. When another girl in town goes missing, Cass is pretty sure she knows who the culprit is. I couldn't put this book down, reading the entire thing in a day.

This YA psychological thriller will keep you guessing! This amazing debut novel finds a young girl, Cass, trying to move forward from a past that is burning her to her core. Chelsea Ichaso pens a fabulous debut novel being told by an unreliable narrator who is starting to unravel herself. Every character is intertwined to connect them all as suspects, but leaves you guessing who had the best motive.
