Horror in the Highlands
Horror in the Highlands | Alison Golden, Jamie Vougeot
5 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
When Reverend Annabelle Dixon is given the chance to fill in for the local minister on the tiny, storm-lashed Scottish island of Blodraigh, she sees it as an ideal opportunity to make the most of the trip and spend some time with her brother and seven-year-old niece who live there. What she doesn't expect is to be drawn into a web of mystery and intrigue that shows up each and every flaw of the tight-knit islanders. When a box of valuable jewelry is found and given to her for safe-keeping she stores it in the church, only for it to be stolen that very night. But something much worse is about to happen. Despite being hampered by a violent storm and the ineptitude of the local police, Annabelle is determined to uncover the source of the mysteries that threaten those she loves dearly and her own sense of justice. But what she finds is a community filled with suspicion and gossip, where behind every door lies another set of secrets and another suspect. Now time is running out for Annabelle as she searches for answers. Can she solve the crimes before the culprits strike again? Or before the islanders take matters into their own hands? Buy Horror in the Highlands today and prepare to be charmed.

Pickpick

This ebook was an easy read about a reverend visiting her brother and niece on a Scottish island where murder and mayhem are aplenty. She takes it upon herself to solve the mysteries in her own unique way. I enjoyed the oddball characters and I loved having an easy read for stressful times. #readingeurope2020 #scotland #litsyatoz #letterH

GingerAntics Like Father Brown, but a woman and in Scotland? lol 5y
Texreader @GingerAntics Yes! A great description! But she‘s only in Scotland in this book. So even more like Father Brown, she‘s located in lovely England. 5y
GingerAntics Interesting. I may have to look into this. 5y
Texreader @GingerAntics It was a freebie so check it out. It might be free again. 5y
GingerAntics I can only find it as an audiobook, sadly. 5y

Thanks for tags @TheSpineView @wanderinglynn @zezeki !! 😘 #fridayfun

1. Now that I know what anxiety attacks feel like, I have to go with a recently discovered genre, cozy mysteries, like the tagged book. Not sure how Murder is cozy, but the books don‘t cause high stress

2. Pixar movies, maybe Jane Austen movies, The Martian

3. PBS‘s Finding Your Roots

4. Scrapbooking, building legos, reading

wanderinglynn Great answers! I love Pixar movies ❤️ Thanks for playing 😀 5y
LauraBrook Finding Your Roots is such an excellent show! I wish they‘d do regular schmoes like us, that‘d be fun to watch too. (edited) 5y
Nute Love Pixar movies! Finding Your Roots is so interesting! 5y

Well there‘s a creative way to use the word “past.” Don‘t you just hate these misusages? They just stop the flow of the book. It‘s not even a typo! Update: OMG! ☺️ This is what five hours of insomnia does to one‘s brain. Thanks @greenreads for the catch!!

sheshedbooks Is it? I thought it's correct. (verb) past (location/landmark) They walked past the bedroom door = they didn't stop at the bedroom door, just walked ahead. "past" here is an adverb 5y
Texreader By golly you‘re correct @greenreads ! I guess my fifth hour into my insomnia is taking a toll of my common sense. So tired!! 5y
sheshedbooks That's harsh. I only knew some sleepless nights and the experience isn't good. Hope you'll get some rest! Take care! 5y

Crazeedi @Texreader you are forgiven! Insomnia sucks, been there a couple nights already this week. I hope you get some rest, hugs🥰❤ 5y
BarbaraBB I could have said it that way and to me it makes sense but of course English is not my first language 😉 5y
Texreader @greenreads @crazeedi Thanks y‘all! It was a rough day in my groggy state. Fortunately my clients weren‘t quite so demanding so I was able to get through. I‘m on a pattern with my meds so I should sleep well tonight. 5y

My March reads so far, all for #readingeurope2020 from top left clockwise: #Scotland #Russia #Ireland #Bulgaria #Poland Jonathan Dunne‘s book also works for #readwithmrbook and some take care of #litsyatoz letters I haven‘t completed yet. A pretty odd mix but sure satisfies whatever mood I‘m in when I‘ve time to read.

Crazeedi You're doing a great job 5y
Texreader @Crazeedi Thank you!! 🥰😘 5y
