I‘m not sure why I didn‘t fall in love with it. Interesting characters, during an interesting time but I just never connected. It‘s well written. To be fair maybe it‘s all the uncertainty right now that messed it up.
If you all haven‘t been watching the @WilliamMorrowBooks Facebook live videos of the books they are excited about you need to start! Not only are they funny but your TBR wishlist will explode. And you can win books (I won this month‘s books!). Any of these especially good? And yes, my dog is totally judging me 😆
Really enjoyed this. It was all about the well-drawn, complex characters for me, and I liked the shifting perspectives (though was left wanting more time with every narrator because each was so interesting). Also reminded that Chinese history is a blindspot for me. I‘m inspired to read some nonfiction about it now (recs, anyone?). Pictured with my desktop screensaver, because I couldn‘t stop thinking about how much this cover resembles it. ❤️💖💜
This was an ambitious debut. Well executed, but definitely read like a first novel. I liked it a lot, ultimately. I liked how it played with time. I love it when the linear western time is challenged - and mixed in with that is the theme of displacement and immigration. The untethered life of a daughter whose mother has erased her own past. Really solid read.
I guess I'm done reading for the night! 😁😸💕📚 #catsoflitsy #littenkitten #roxas
