After three years in the "Divers Paradise", divemaster Boone Fischer thought he'd seen it all; but on a routine afternoon dive, he spots something that will turn his tranquil life upside down. From the arid shores of the ABC Islands to the tropical jungles of Venezuela, from the ocean depths of the Southern Caribbean, to the lush islands of the Northern Leewards, Deep Shadow takes Boone and the reader on an action-packed adventure filled with danger and suspense.

Here‘s another photo from the friend who hiked into the volcano on an island that is referenced in the tagged book. #DutchAntilles #readingtheamericas

Librarybelle Amazing photo! 2y
BarbaraBB Bonaire looks lush! I‘ve never been there but I‘ve visited nearby Curacao a lot. That is such a great place too. 2y
Texreader @BarbaraBB This photo was from a different island that was just referenced in passing, Statia or “Sint Eustatius” 2y

The tagged book mentions in passing an oil company based here in San Antonio. So I snapped a photo of the page of the book and sent it to a friend who works at the company. Here‘s his response and one of his photos:

“Awesome, a couple of years ago I went there for work. Hiked inside to the bottom of that volcano! Attaching a few pics for reference... we've sold that facility since.”

Pickpick

Boone is a dive master at a scuba shop in #Bonaire in the #DutchAntilles. While diving, he spies a submarine built by a #Venezuela drug cartel but hijacked by terrorists. Along with dive customers who happen to be well connected with the appropriate branches of government, he finds he is the only one who can stop the sub from blowing up cruise ships anchoring in a Caribbean island port. The author is an actor who turned writer focused on his ⬇️

Texreader favorite childhood vacations, the Caribbean, and his love of scuba diving. On the one hand, the level of detail actually makes this far-fetched plot very realistic. On the other, it makes for a slow start and gets a bit tedious. I enjoyed the book and its descriptions of the islands. I‘d be happy to read the next in the series. #readingtheamericas (edited) 2y
Librarybelle Great review! 2y
Susanita Unfortunately, I don‘t think the plot sounds that far fetched. 😳 2y
Texreader @Susanita I know; I was worried it might be a bit too true… 2y

The tagged book starts on the island of #Bonaire, which I‘ve never heard of before so here‘s what Wiki told me:

Bonaire is a Dutch island belonging to the Netherlands in the Leeward Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. Its capital is the port of Kralendijk, on the west (leeward) coast of the island.

On our #readingtheamericas list? @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB

BarbaraBB It is part of the Dutch Antilles so you can use it for that prompt! 2y
Texreader @BarbaraBB Great, thanks!! 2y
