It was alright, filled a gap but really predictable.
I was interested in the shellshock and trauma therapy.

I'm enjoying this triple character plot, twisting between 1952 Scilly isles, London and current day Scilly isles. Not that keen on one of the female protagonists but guess she fulfils a role/need...

Esther falls into a depression when tragedy strikes. Her husband sends her to an island where a doctor takes in people to help them. Set between different times, letters are found that should have been sent to Esther 60 years ago. A love lost and found. A nice read to start the summer reading season.

This was alright. I have been reading some excellent books lately so that might be contributing to my lower rating. In some places I thought I had missed something cause the characters seemed to feel certain ways out of the blue. I also didn't really like one of the main characters 😱 ⭐⭐⭐

This story is set in two eras, It's 1951 and Esther is suffering from depression and her husband takes her to an isolated island and leaves her (against her will) under the care of a psychiatrist who runs a clinic for shell shocked soldiers.
Fast forward to 2018 and we find ⬇️

About three women, 1951 Esther, and modern day Rachel and Eve, this is an engaging story about women, love, family, and the sacrifices that different generations have made both voluntarily and because of the society of the time. Really good, ending is too rushed and ends abruptly and I dont think we got enough character development of Rachel (2018 timeline). But I really enjoyed it overall.

Three POV‘s, taking place in the early 1950‘s and 2018. So shocking to see how easy it was to have someone admitted to a mental asylum just a few decades ago. I guess Esther‘s husband did what he thought was necessary to help her, but his decision changed the course of so many lives. All three POV‘s were interesting, but Esther‘s was my favorite. The three stories came together so well.

So I now have to return to finish The Irish Princess - over 300 pages left! But this one was sitting all brand new at the library! I have it on audio actually but I couldn't leave it behind. 😊
