This was a story one life of a spy in the era of WW II. It‘s like all Steele stories light on romance more focused on the Selina of trust. Love her stories for the ease on concentration. Received for an honest review through NetGalley.

The storyline in this book really sucked me in! Alex was a spy during the war and for years after as she traveled the world with her diplomat husband. Somewhere about 2/3 of the way in it lost me a little when writing got a little choppy, introduced a bunch of characters, and skipped lots of time to find out what happened...although I did appreciate finding out what happened with the characters, it felt a little rushed. Still enjoyable ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Classic DS, excellent research and writing 😁. World war II setting, female spy, continuing on for many years after the war. Through generations and across countries, the story is intricately woven with suspense and interesting details. Not your typical war story!

Nute Nice photo! 5y

Probably one of the most through books I‘ve ever read starting in WWII. I absolutely loved following Alex from the time she was ‘presented‘ to the royal court to all throughout her life as an SOE agent and eventually an MI6 agent, to finishing up with her in her 80‘s! What a fantastic adventurous life! I hardly put it down! Definitely a strong five stars! Full review goodreads.com/Chrysta23

SaturnDoo I have this on my TBR. Glad to see you enjoyed. Danielle Steele used to be a favorite author but in the last 10+ years I quit reading her books because they seemed to be recycled stories from her earlier works. 🤷‍♀️ maybe it's just me. 5y
SassyBookworm @SaturnDoo this is my first Danielle Steele book, I really enjoyed how it went through her whole life basically rather the a short bit. 5y

Looking for an exciting romance story set in WW2 with a strong minded, independent and career oriented woman?Alexandra is a spy for the SOE and the M16 and this is her story. Follow Alex on espionage missions for her country and through her relationship with Richard. This book was a very inspiring read with a strong female lead filled with romance, as well as filled with loss as it was set during war time. This book is a true gem!
