I‘m not sure you can live in Hawaii & not know the name Rell Sunn, international champion surfer who died in 1998, too young at 47 after battling cancer for 14 years. Known as the “Queen of Makaha” this book is a collection of stories & memories by people who knew her. Some are locally familiar names, some not, but all paint a compelling portrait of the athlete, icon, & friend she was. Read for my library‘s #WomanChangeMakers reading challenge. 💙
