A good concept — but poor execution.
I found this one interesting primarily for Russell's pre-pandemic take on the public's reaction to a novel illness and the ethical issues surrounding finding a cure/treatment. There's also a bit of an exploration of where one finds a moral compass in a world (or at least a culture) with maleable morality. What are the rules if there are no rules? Kind of bleak.
Not a horror, not really, but definately an unsettling thought. Dying from being unable to sleep sounds pretty awful. Offering up my infant as a weekly sleep donor to prevent that doesn't sound too great either.

Pandemic read about a pandemic of sleeplessness. Us insomniac prone people already know the helplessness that emanates from a lack of sleep. It‘s interesting to see how such a thing could grip the world and how we would respond and try to conquer the realm of sleep.
What a great premise 🕺 from Karen Russell (she wrote Swamplandia a few years back) #sleep donation

(Coming Soon)
A haunting novella from the uncannily imaginative author of the national best sellers Swamplandia! and Orange World: the story of a deadly insomnia epidemic and the lengths one woman will go to to fight it.
I've had trouble sleeping for a few nights. Anybody want to donate some sleep to me?
My night is so lit 😂 I can't sleep a wink so I'm trying a book and tea, and yes I see the irony in my book choice 😆
