pickRandomly picked this at a book store- was not disappointed. Had no idea it was part of a series, and now I‘m even more determined to become closer with the character that is Mark Novak. Bravo, Koryta. You kept me on my seat for the entirety of this masterpiece

pick2nd book of the Markus Novak series. Markus is hunting for his wife‘s killer. He meets up with her killer on the lonely road where she was shot. A touch of the paranormal and dry humor make this book interesting. His wife‘s last words were, “Rise the Dark” and Markus is also searching for what she meant by those words. A villain in the story tells Markus that you can never outpace your past, you can only “Rise Against the Future”.
