#savvysettings #bookstore The Strand is the last one surviving. This is a history of NYCs book row that developed in 1890s to the 1920s & follows its decline in the 1960s. They were mostly on 4th Ave between Union Square & Astor place. The Strand started as a small stall on 8th.Still on TBR.

I admit I‘m kinda picky about condition on books so I have very few library discards but how could I not buy a book about New York‘s book row ? Added value 2nd post .

A bit dry, but overall it‘s a tribute told in recollections, anecdotes, and photos about the rare and used book stores that populated New York City‘s Book Row from the 1890‘s to the 1960‘s. Sometimes the stories seem as if they were cut off or important details were left out, but they‘re still interesting.

For any #LondonLittens you must check out Cecil Court near Leicester Square. Home to 20-odd secondhand bookshops and the shop fronts haven‘t changed for over a century.
